I used to have long, voluminous lashes in my days as a twenty-something and teenager. Then I had a baby and my eyelashes never really recovered from the post-partum hair loss. My second kid kicked my lashes while they were down and I was left with short, thin, brittle lashes. I’m going to share all of the ways I have tried (and failed) to up my lash game. I’m also going the share my newest lash obsession that gives that gives me full, fabulous lashes that stay-put all day in under 5 minutes.
Ive watched some of my friends grow amazing lashes with these magic serums, and I’ve even wasted hundreds of dollars trying to make that dream my reality. Yes, I have witnessed some amazing lash transformations thanks to Lash Boost by Rodan and Fields. At about $150 per tube it better work some magic! A few fun facts:
1) lash serums been known to produce some pretty gnarley allergic reactions and sensitivities so beware of the possibility of waking up with itchy, red, swollen eyes crusted shut, especially if you have sensitive skin.
2) go ahead and throw that $150 in the trash if like me, you have trouble sticking to a routine. Most lash serums will only work if you apply them religiously. Once you drop the ball you turn into a pumpkin with a sorry excuse for eyelashes.
Lash serums do not work for me, personally becuase I can not commit to consistent use.
On my quest for fabulous lashes, I also tried novalash eyelash extensions. This seemed like the answer to my prayers… Effortlessly waking up to lash perfection that looks natural!? Sign me up! I’m not sure what the timeline or price tag is these days but when I had it done in 2015 it was $250 and my appointment lasted about 2 hours. My lashes looked great for a few weeks and then when my natural lashes would grow out the attached eyelash could be noticed more easily. This also would make the grown out lashes excessively long. If you have several hundred dollars and 2 hours to invest every few weeks, lash extensions might be a good option for you. Unless you have sensitive skin… just google “allergic reaction to lash extensions” I have a friend the developed a severe reaction to the glue in her lash extensions after getting them refilled a few times. Lash extensions are known to cause damage to your natural lashes, to and “breaks” from extensions are recommended. Lash extensions do not work for this busy, tired mama.
I have tried lots of traditional false lashes (from high end to drug store) that require glue. They always look good when they are applied by a professional. When I try to apply them myself, it’s quite comical. It is messy and takes me FOREVER to apply. The final product is questionable and I usually sacrifice an estimated 5-10 of my natural lashes (R.I.P to the brave lashes lost while removing glued on lashes) Glue-on lashes are a decent option if I have them applied by a pro.
About a year ago I became fascinated with the new magnetic lash trend. I bought a pair of Ardelle lash accents and was somewhat impressed with the results. No glue, no mess, inexpensive alternative. It did take some time to get the hang of “sandwiching” my lashes between the upper and lower strips. Sometimes, I’d have trouble aligning them and getting them close enough to my lash line. Sometimes if the wind was too strong they’d slip down a bit on my lashes. Having to readjust or reapply magnetic lashes in a public bathroom is for the birds!! This could be a good budget-friendly option for people with sensitive skin and patience. I have tried several brands of magnetic eyelashes and have only been genuinely happy and completely impressed with one brand. Tori Belle. I was so blown away by this product that I decided to become an affiliate while purchasing my second pair. I have always had a general dislike and distrust for direct sales and MLMs so I didn’t just hop on the bandwagon blindly. I was drawn to the product and knew I’d be telling my friends and loved ones about it anyway. There was virtually no startup cost either, since I intended on buying more product anyway.
These lashes are my jam!! They are on point with the ease of use, being non toxic/non damaging, affordable and providing instant, dramatic results.
Don’t take my word for it, though. Give them a try! If you have little faith in magnetic lashes based on previous experience… maybe you’ve tried other brands… don’t compare these to the rejects. I’ve even tried the new trending “moxie” brand lashes. My lashes run circles around these. Below I will post my affiliate link if you are so inclined to try them out. I will also post some tutorials and some of my own personal photos and videos.
